COSMIC BIKES BROMPTON GUIDE
BROMPTON LINES & MODELS
The Biggest change yet!
No question, the introduction of the G-Line in late 2024 is the biggest change in Brompton’s history.
Breaking with the long tradition of 16” wheels, adding disc brakes and introducing three sizes for riders of different heights are all radical departures from the time-tested classic (and incredibly versatile) Brompton design.
In this section of the Brompton guide, we’ll help you make sense of the available options, and chose the one that is right for you.
What Changes and What Stays the Same
What stays:
Brompton Lines A, C, P and T all feature the iconic Brompton design, 16” wheel size, foldability, functionality and utility. Whether you get the budget-friendly A-Line, or top of the line T-Line, the fold and the size of the folded package will be virtually the same (though not the weight).
Across those four lines, customers can still choose form the analogous handlebar styles, similar gearing options and accessories as before, but the options will be grouped by function rather than by component choice.
What goes:
Customizations such as choosing color combinations and personalizing your Brompton from the factory have been eliminates since 2022.
The 3 x 2 gearing combination utilizing the Sturmey Archer 3-speed internally-geared hub in combination with a 2-speed rear sprocket it being replaced across all the lines.
What’s new:
Across Brompton Lines C, P and T, the new 3 x 4 gearing configuration is being phased in. This combines the 3-speed hub with a 4-speed sprocket and a proprietary derailleur. Bikes will be available in a 4-speed Urban, or 12-speed Explore configurations.
The G-Line makes a huge departure from the classic Brompton, and does not share any of the components with its predecessors.
G-Line
Like any Brompton, it transforms instantly from a compact folded package into performance personal transportation.
Like its 16” wheel predecessors, the G-Line features Brompton’s trademark three-part fold, making it the most compactly folding 20” bike available. However, the larger and wider wheels and the frame made to accommodate them make for a larger package than the classic Brompton.

A lightweight electric system with a 45 mile range enhances the usability of a Brompton in the city by eliminating some of the more punishing aspects of cycling: longer distances, headwinds and climbs.
Electric Bromptons are ideally suited to commuting and recreational use, and car and rail travel. Because of inconsistent international and airline regulations, they are less suited to global travel than their pedal-powered conterparts.
